This four-lane highway construction project connecting the Florida Turnpike to I-4 was undertaken to reduce traffic congestion on Central Florida’s busiest roadway. The project included three AASHTO girder bridges, two 1,100 linear foot steel bridges, six toll plazas and an administration building. Work also included drainage, roadway and structural work. Catalyst was responsible for building a baseline, providing monthly updates, and presenting these updates in progress meetings for the CEI and the Florida Turnpike Expressway Authority.
Toward the last six months of the project, the schedule had to be accelerated due to a $3.2M owner incentive. The schedule was successfully accelerated and the road opened to the public on time. The maximum no-excuse bonus was obtained.
