Miami-Dade County’s new animal shelter is a major milestone in accomplishing our goal to save the lives of homeless pets in our community. The new site for the Animal Services Department is located at 3651 NW 79 Ave, Doral, FL 33166. The total site area occupies 5.04 acres and includes an existing building that will undergo extensive renovation and structural retrofitting, at approximately 70,000 square feet, the new building doubles the size of the current shelter. The design of the new facility makes it a model of best practices in animal housing and prioritizes the adoption of shelter pets. The new facility will offer comfortable environment for homeless pets, those who care for them and the people looking to adopt a dog or cat. A few of the special features: spacious air-conditioned kennels, several outdoor canine exercise and play areas, and a community room for cats to play in.
