The Kenneth F. Burns Memorial Bridge carries Route 9 over Lake Quinsigamond. The existing structurally deficient bridge is a 5-Span, 795′ Long Reinforced Concrete Arch structure built in 1916 and rehabilitated in 1983 consists of 2 Eastbound & 2 Westbound lanes with narrow shoulders and sidewalks. The existing bridge has deteriorated to the point where it needs to be replaced. The proposed $89.7 Million Design-Build project funded as part of the Accelerated Bridge Program will replace the existing bridge with two 5-Span Steel Deck Arch bridges side by side. Each bridge will consist of (3) 11′ travel lanes in each direction with 4′ inside shoulders and 6′ outside shoulders, 5′ Bike Lanes including wide ADA compliant sidewalks with lookout spots on the Lake.
