Key Responsibilities
- Safety Planning and Implementation:
- Develop and implement site-specific safety plans in compliance with OSHA regulations and local safety laws.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Training and Development:
- Organize and lead training sessions for workers on safe construction practices, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and emergency response procedures.
- Conduct toolbox talks to reinforce safety practices and communicate project objectives.
- Incident Management:
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and unsafe conditions; document findings and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of all safety-related activities, including incident reports and training logs.
- Compliance Monitoring:
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with applicable regulations, codes, and company policies.
- Collaborate with project teams to review and update monthly site-specific safety plans.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Act as the primary point of contact for all safety-related matters on the job site.
- Liaise with subcontractors to ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety management or a related field.
- Proven track record of managing health and safety programs on commercial or civil construction projects.
- Certifications:
- OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification.
- CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Additional certifications such as HAZWOPER or CHST are a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, local safety laws, and industry best practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite; experience with safety management software is an advantage.
